After a 12 hour shift at work yesterday, I finally got home just before 11:00 a.m. And then I hunkered down, in my man-cave, and went to WORK! It was Memorial Day, and I wanted to do all I could do to honor our troops, both the living and the fallen, the vets and active duty. I had remembered the words I had read early Monday morning that said, "Don't just celebrate. Commemorate." Those words rang in my head all day like the ringing of the Liberty Bell. The Fox & Friends weekend crew calls it an "ear-worm" that you just can't get out of your head for a day or more.
So, I put off my "celebration" for awhile while I worked on my "commemoration" for our troops. I wrote on twitter (and helped to start the new tag, #MemorialMonday), put up a couple of youtube videos, and well, I multitask very well. It was truly a day well spent. And I really believe that if they were still around, guys like Benjamin Franklin and George Washington would have been patting me on the back, and maybe even have had a hug or two.
And finally, I was able to take some time off. I prepared a music mix CD featuring 4TROOPS, along with some patriotic music I had acquired just after 9/11. I did that quickly, so I didn't know quite how it was going to sound. Well, I grilled some chicken last night while listening to the CD... I ended up listening to the 80 minute CD TWICE while doing my cooking. And I didn't even burn the food! (In fact, it was delicious, to die for as they say.)
"To die for food" is one thing.... To die for FREEDOM is something else! There are so many that have done that, and that was what yesterday was about. And I want to tell you, that the living active duty service members and the vets also should be honored on Memorial Day, because they are also those that are or were WILLING to die in the fight for Freedom if that was what it took.
In those 160 minutes of listening to that awesome CD (twice), I had a lot of time to reflect on the sacrifices that have been made both to create this great country and then to keep it together. And yes, I had tears rolling down my face. When I was in the USAF, it was peacetime... although the Iranians had taken Americans hostage, and a bunch of guys from Hurlburt Field died in the attempt to rescue the hostages... Some of the Army Rangers that didn't come back were my neighbors. Eglin AFB, where I was stationed, went on high alert. President Jimmy Carter's peace agenda was plummeting into the abyss of failed plans. That was a time when I wasn't sure what I would be asked to do, but I was ready and willing.
For a brief few moments, way too brief, I finally forgot about all the troubles facing our great country and this world, and I did something I had not done often enough recently. I prayed. I thanked God for all He has given us. I thanked Him for all those that have been in our lives - all too briefly - that made the ultimate sacrifice at some point. And I said, "Thank you Lord for using me in whatever way you need to help spread the Word." And that is what I believe I am doing.
I had my best Memorial Day celebration ever through commemoration of those that have fought to gain and keep our freedom. Thank you, Lord, for waking me up! With that being said, let me now give you a video that I came across this morning, featuring 4TROOPS singing, "For Freedom":

As you all know, the Christmas and New Year holiday season is a busy time. It probably ranks high in being the busiest time of the year for many of us. It's good, because many of us are making preparations for the time to be with our families.
One of the things I did was to produce the picture you see on the right. (Obviously, I did a little "photoshoppng" on this picture, though it wasn't the PhotoShop program that I used to do this).
While it is slack-off time for some, such as those in the talk-radio industry, it is a very hectic time for others. It's the busiest time of the year on the retail side of the economy. And then there were those like me. We in the New Media wave stayed busy trying to fill in for the holiday "slackers" (those that deserve some time off). While Rush Limbaugh was off in Hawaii having what felt like a heart attack but wasn't, thank God, some of us stayed in tune with all that was going on, like the Senate passing their version of the Health Care Reform bill, and a Christmas Day attempt by a terrorist to eliminate 278 more people from this planet.
So, for those of you that didn't follow the news in the last ten days, because you were celebrating with family and friends, or working your hardest, this one's for you.

This is what you call, watching what the other hand is doing. While the health care bill being "legislated" is way over the line when it comes to the Constitution of the United States, an out-of-control Congressman, Alan Grayson from Florida, is trying to unconstitutionally limit the free speech of a private citizen. How bizarre!
Watch the other hand, people like Grayson, that really don't care about your freedom. He is not fighting for you. He is into his own narcissist world view, where he obviously wants his Party to remain in power, and he will do all he can to eliminate your freedom to dissent.

Earlier today, I read a great piece by Barbara Simpson, "2010, here I come." She writes:
I've been thinking about my resolutions for 2010, and I've decided this year I will make some and live up to them! It's been a long time. I've decided to be more courageous.
Part of the reason is that I've seen what's happened to my country, and I don't like it. I've seen what the silent censorship of political correctness has created, and I don't like it. I've seen that young people simply don't know about our greatness and how we attained that – not because they're dumb but because they deliberately have not been taught.
Barbara has it so right! I've made a resolution, too, for the same reason. There are changes that I've been working on that I want to share with you today.
It was just ten years ago that I came up with the brilliant idea to start my own website, johnny2k.com. The website went online on January 3, 2000, I believe. My original theme was helping people work from home, using the internet. I fully expected to become a dotcom entrepreneur millionaire within months. I put it all on the line. And then, three months later, we saw the beginning of the dotcom fallout. Al Gore's "invention" wasn't quite working out so well for many dotcom investors, and the bubble burst. It was at that time that I saw the writing on the wall, and my dream of a large financial gain was also vaporized.
Well, fortunately, I've found a greater purpose along the way. Like Barbara Simpson, I haven't liked what I'm seeing, especially in the last 11 months since The One has taken office. So, using the skills that I've developed over the last ten years, it will be my purpose to make sure that the "sheople" are better informed. And on the other side of the coin, I realized that there are many of my fellow patriots that are much better equipped than I when it comes to the ability to adequately inform the masses. So what do I do? I have decided to specialize in finding ways to get more of you exposed to the vast resources now available on the web that just may help us preserve our freedom.
So, what could be a better time to make a transformation, while we see the new decade arrive? The new johnny2k.com will be focused on that one goal, to make sure that you are aware of what is facing America. I will use all of my abilities to show that we are becoming dangerously close to totally losing any freedom that we've enjoyed for the last two centuries. While I am still allowed, I will do all I can to make sure that you are informed of how our freedoms are being diluted.
How much can I do? Over two and a quarter million views of my youtube videos that I've posted in the last three years told me that I may be able to HELP make a difference. Close to 50,000 views of my various forum posts and blogs may mean that there are others out there that also have a desire to understand what is going on. I've been dedicating myself to providing you with information that will help to connect all of the dots. I plan to continue that mission in the next decade, for as long as I'm allowed.

As you will see, I added quite a few videos to TheREALjohnny2k youtube.com channel this last week. Not only was there quite a bit of material that I found that was worthy of uploading, I also had a lot of time on my hands last week. For once, I practically had an unlimited amount of time in order to do what needed to be done in order to find excellent material, put the videos together, and then get them uploaded. (It also helped to have recently found a way to vastly increase my uploading speed.)
On Monday, I had several teeth pulled, requiring several days of recovery time because of stitches and getting new dentures. I took two days off from work following my normal two days off for my weekend which falls on Monday and Tuesday. I could so easily get used to having that much time off. But as we are all aware of, putting food on the table requires an income, and I still need a job to do that. However, I did realize how much I would love to be able to have a self-supporting income working at home, doing something that I so much enjoy!
It was very good timing for me to have that extra time last week, as there really was so much good material to share with you. That brings up the point that the hardest part of my job as a youtube "vlogger" is finding the kind of information buried in the hours upon hours that I watch and record that will help you the most. Fortunately, I have the assistance of the Fox News producers that bring top quality hosts, guests, and excellent presentations to be so grateful for. Without them, I wouldn't be able to bring the stories to you that are the most thought provoking and definitely informative. It helps that Fox News has the "fair and balanced" theme, as it gives us the opportunity to usually get more than one side or opinion to the story, (even if the liberal side is dead wrong).
Speaking of being fair and balanced, there is something else that requires a little discussion today. There is no question that this writer sees things from the Conservative perspective. Though what I bring to you will reflect the Conservative ideals the most, I also do my best to at least provide time to people in the news with liberal points of view every now and then. It doesn't hurt to know what they are thinking, because it makes them so much more predictable. It helps to understand them in order to understand many of the things going wrong in this country and in the world right now. (I know, that sounds pretty harsh, but it's so true.)
So, how about if I stop rambling here, and just let you get started watching the videos below! There are a bunch of them this week, and it may take you awhile to get through them all, and you don't want to miss seeing any of them. In the last few days, I felt like I was in a rut. It was like all I do is go to work and then come home to the same old things, more or less. There's the dishes to do, laundry, cooking my supper, taking care of my dog Moochie and my cat RC, check and respond to email, occasionally doing a little cleaning or working out in the yard, and running errands every now and then. However, before you think I live a very dull life, I should let you now that isn't all I do. In fact, I do a lot more than that, and it is the extra projects that I'm working on that seemed to be making me feel like I was just spinning my wheels in life. Please allow me to explain.
Since the latter part of the previous century, I was seeing a very frightening trend in America where too many Americans were becoming amazingly complacent about the meaning of "the land of the free," and where this country was headed. It seemed to me that people were too willing to allow the government to become their nanny, and that we were no longer able to do things for ourselves. Personal responsibility for our own lives was being relegated to the dust bins of history, because it was expected that the government (Federal, state and local) would take care of our problems. And meanwhile, moral decay has been taking a firmer grip on society; not just in America, but everywhere in the world.
When I first started learning of the things that were going on, there were no personal computers or the Internet. In order for me to help spread the word about what was happening, I was dependent on personal and group vocal presentations and sharing audio cassette tapes,and eventually VCR tapes and CD's. On January 1, 2000, I started my website, johnny2k.com. A couple of years later, I got my forums going. My whole purpose was to be able to spread the idea of Freedom. My original focus began with trying to spread financial freedom by taking advantage of the good old free enterprise system. That's right, good ol' capitalism.
Along came the Internet. First, everyone set themselves up with an email account. Many of the more tech-savvy people out there then discovered the domain names they could get to have an "online presence." It didn't take long after that for people to discover forums, chat rooms, blogs, and now the social websites. I was one of those people, though usually a year or two behind the initial waves. Hey, but at least I do it now!
It wasn't long before I discovered that information dispersal was absolutely dependent on information retrieval. Well, no problem. I turned myself into a news junkie. I'm actually overwhelmed with the amount of information that I can consume in a short amount of time. And the fact is, despite my efforts, I can not possibly share all that I learn with the masses like I would want to. There doesn't seem to be enough time.
Clearly, when you think about all the others that are out there in cyberspace, there are a lot of players competing for the hearts and minds, and especially the eyes, of the potential audience - consumers - of the ideas that they desire to promote. And, I am one of them in the competition. That's where the problem began. I was aware of the fact that I am just a crumb amongst all of those out there. That revelation was damaging, as feeling like a little bitty crumb in the scheme of things meant that I could spend the rest of my life in obscurity and being limited to the obscenely meager income of my current job.
I have to admit, I was experiencing the reality of any of my hopes and dreams being crushed like Obama did to a fly. I honestly have to confess that I was wondering if there was any reason to keep on fighting. But then, last night, a good friend on twitter and blip.fm shared a great song with me. I guess we could say that this song hit the nail on the head. it was just what I needed to hear (and read). It taught me something. It's okay being just one of the crumbs. In fact, it also told me that while I may be just a crumb, it's important for me to keep doing what I'm doing, and hopefully touching one more person. That's it. That's all. But remember, we're NOT alone. There's a place where we belong. I'm not giving up!

It is my prayer that when you saw and heard the above video, and read the lyrics, that big ol' tears would be rolling down your face as I experienced.
